Services: Bone Builders is a community-based osteoporosis prevention education program for older women and men. Its primary goals include teaching participants about osteoporosis and nutrition, improving their balance, and increasing their energy level and sense of well-being. It meets twice weekly at various locations throughout Penobscot County, including the Eastern Area Agency on Aging, the YMCA Old Town-Orono, and elsewhere. Men and women 55 and older can become trainers for the Bone Builders program and work in a team setting to lead classes, twice weekly, in their communities.

The Department’s multiple parks, scenic benches, and walking trails are free to the public. In the Auditorium, a Senior Citizen’s Club meets every Thursday throughout the year.
