Services: The Department of Respiratory Medicine provides acute and non-acute respiratory clinical service to in-house adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. The Department also provides therapeutic bronchoscopy, pulmonary function testing services, and rehabilitative programs to in-house and ambulatory patients, as well as referred services to respiratory home-care patients. All services are provided by qualified and trained personnel who are supervised by licensed or credentialed practitioners, and all services are under the direct guidance of the medical director, Dr. Thomas Frey, a member of the Penobscot Respiratory, PA, physicians’ group. The Department is committed to providing quality respiratory care, and the physicians conduct on-going evaluations to make appropriate and objective care plans for each patient in the clinical, therapeutic, diagnostic, and rehabilitative areas of service.
As a department of Northern Light Health: EMMC, which is the tertiary hospital of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, Respiratory Medicine cooperates with others in the region to improve access to a full range of high-quality healthcare at a reasonable cost. Upon request, the staff provides consultation on respiratory-care procedures and equipment to affiliate hospitals, educational institutions, and other healthcare providers.
