Services: The staff members of Goodwill provide individual career counseling and job training, customized job placement and support while on the job– at no cost to the participant.  While in the program and working at the training site, all participants are paid by Goodwill to give both the participant and the prospective employer time to get to know one another.

This program has been developed in partnership with the Maine Office of Elder Services and the federal Senior Community Service and Employment Program (SCSEP). Participants are asked to complete 20 hours per week of community service in a nonprofit agency or government-related program.

As participants develop their new work skills, placements can be made with private companies as part of the transition to hire strategy.  This “try-out” employment service ensures that the career goals of the participant and the business needs of the employer are met.  The goal of the program is for each participant to leave feeling confident and capable that they have the skills and ability to succeed in a full or part-time job of their choice.
